Dr. Ezezika
Dr. Ezezika is a dynamic global health leader and implementation science expert dedicated to translating evidence into meaningful, lasting public health impact. As Director of the Global Health and Innovation Lab at Western University, he leads interdisciplinary efforts to bridge the gap between research and practice—ensuring that effective health interventions are not only adopted but also sustained in real-world settings.
With more than 15 years of experience, Dr. Ezezika’s work spans vaccine preparedness, nutrition, health equity, and the strategic scale-up of innovations across both African and Canadian contexts. Over the past decade, he has authored more than 50 peer-reviewed publications and two books, including his forthcoming volume Scaling Up Health Innovations in Africa: Prospects and Challenges (University of Toronto Press, 2025), which captures key insights from his research and leadership in implementation science. He has led projects supported by over $6.5 million in research funding to improve health outcomes through evidence-based implementation and is also the founder of the African Centre for Innovation and Leadership Development, a nonprofit dedicated to strengthening leadership capacity and knowledge translation in health systems.
His contributions have been recognized through several prestigious awards, including the University of Toronto Global Educator Award, the D2L Innovation in Teaching Award, and the Next Einstein Award. Dr. Ezezika is known for his engaging, insight-driven talks that draw from both academic scholarship and hands-on experience, making him a compelling voice at conferences, workshops, and global health forums.
He holds a PhD in Microbiology from the University of Georgia and a Master of Environmental Management from Yale University.
